Hello,
Me again. I had been running down this Kanotix CH Yoke/Pedals problem
offline with Ron Jensen, with the idea of posting the solution to this
forum in a summary, with a big "Ta-Dah!!!" Well, we haven't found the
big 'ta-dah' just yet.
To summarize: running a Dell desktop 500 Mhz 256Mb with
2.6.14-kanotix-9 #1 PREEMPT Wed Dec 28 10:17:53 CET 2005 i686 GNU/Linux
(Linux only, no dual boot), trying to get FlightGear 0.9.10-2 going with
USB CH control yoke and pedals. I don't have any other programs
installed that use yoke or pedal program inputs.
Ron's determination after sorting through my problem is:
"Since the kde control center doesn't work, I don't think we'll get
Flight Gear to work :( There is apparently a bug in some Linux Kernels
that interfere with some joysticks. I'm using 2.6.12, nothing newer
will work for me...
here's what we know:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ js_demo
Joystick test program.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Joystick 0: "CH PRODUCTS CH FLIGHT SIM YOKE USB "
Joystick 1: "CH PRODUCTS CH PRO PEDALS USB "
Joystick 2 not detected ....
Trying fgjs:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/share/games/FlightGear$ fgjs
Found 2 joystick(s)
Joystick #0 "CH PRODUCTS CH FLIGHT SIM YOKE USB " has 7 axes
Joystick #1 "CH PRODUCTS CH PRO PEDALS USB " has 3 axes
Move the control you wish to use for Aileron right
Pressing a button skips this axis ...
[no input detected]
Looked at joysticks.xml file and saw no specific reference to ch yoke or
ch pedals, and edited it [as I could] to correct that.
The JS Cal in kcontrol shows both yoke and pedals connected, but only
the pedals have input.
Tried disconnecting pedals to see if yoke was detected. No jscal input
from yoke with pedals USB disconnected. There are no parameters in the
'buttons ' state column. There are numbers in the 'value' column, but
they do not change with control input.
Pretty much stumped. I would appreciate suggestions as to what could be
done by a fairly new Linux user, to get FG up and running with CH
controls. BTW, the program FlightGear 0.9.10-2 installed and comes up,
and runs with keyboard input.
Thx,
Dick
