Hi Georg,
In YAST is your installation source the CD or DVD?  If so disable it and 
try adding these servers:
Click Add and then HTTP in the popup menu.  Add this address to the 
Server Name field and then click OK.

packman.unixheads.com/suse/10.1 (select a mirror if this address doesn't 
work)

You might get errors, ignore them and continue.  Add these two servers also:

mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source/
mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/non-oss-inst-source/

These may take a few minutes to update but once they have got the lists 
check to see if these packages are installed in Yast software manager:
gcc
make
