The space bar will kick over the starter (there is also a clickable hot spot on the lower left side of the cockpit that will engage the starter). I have found that I need to pump the throttle while it is cranking over to get it started. Be sure to close the canopy before you start your take off roll. It is a real hand full during the take off so be prepared to dance on the rudder pedals and correct its tendency to roll (from engine torque) as it lifts off. I have found it useful to hold some forward stick once the tails starts coming up so that I can hold it on the ground a little while to gain some speed before lifting off. This helps to minimize the effect of all of the engine torque as the aircraft is lifting off. Also it likes a light hand on the controls since large control inputs will cause it to bleed off speed very quickly. The control surfaces are very large and are effective to near zero air speed.
