After compiling a kernel and running Nvidia's .run - glxgears reports
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> glxgears
2016 frames in 5.0 seconds = 403.181 FPS
2166 frames in 5.0 seconds = 433.073 FPS
2135 frames in 5.0 seconds = 426.899 FPS
2554 frames in 5.0 seconds = 510.779 FPS

much improved
