Ha, I was just working on a nearly identical reply. :-)

Anyways, current FlightGear requires either OSG CVS, or the version that 
can be found here:

ftp://ftp.ihg.uni-duisburg.de/FlightGear/Misc_maf/OpenSceneGraph-20070122/OSG_OP_OT-CVS20070122.tar.bz2


I don't really have the time to did up the instructions right now, but 
the should be somewhere in the WIKI or in the FlightGear devel mailing 
archieve.
