Hi all, I have been creating some buildings for FlightGear scenery models. One feature of these models (that is, I like it...) is that the models light up at night. I need to create a few more models, but the nighttime cityscape scenes are starting to look almost realistic.
To create the buildings I have been changing the buildings' wall textures when illuminated, following the technique described on this page: http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php/Howto:_Illuminate_faces I have until now been working with FlightGear v1.0.0. I recently tried using v1.9.0, and found that my building models were not being displayed correctly. The wrong textures are displayed for the time of day. I see that the Wiki page now has a note stating that the technique it describes will not work after v1.0. However, the Wiki page does not describe an alternative technique for animating textures. How can this effect be achieved? Will the texture animation feature be restored in a future version of FlightGear? Is there some automated tool that can convert the scenery models to the new technique, or must I redevelop all of the models manually (Grr!). How can I modify my scenery models so that the buildings are illuminated at night?
