I've got a couple of the standard 10 bit BU0836 modules for a grob 115 cockpit I'm working on, so Melchior's config utility should come in very handy :-) They're great little modules, the only gotcha I've found so far is that linux doesn't consider it a joystick unless it presents at least one analog input (if they're disconnected they're hidden - I suppose if you just wanted buttons you could wire a couple of resistors to one of the inputs to enable it). AFAIK onceconfigured the BU0836A does the decoding and you just get up/down pulses out as normal joystick buttons, I've not tried it yet. > something interesting if you are putting a lot of time into learning > about a device like this (and need to handle more than one at a time) ?!? > > Do you have a mechanism for driving external lamps or meters? I hope to get started on a project this weekend using an atmega16 to create a comm radio control panel, it's nice to know other people are working on similar projects. Maybe we can have a list of flightgear compatible projects for people to build.
