I've got a couple of the standard 10 bit BU0836 modules for a grob 115 
cockpit I'm working on, so Melchior's config utility should come in very 
handy :-) They're great little modules, the only gotcha I've found so 
far is that linux doesn't consider it a joystick unless it presents at 
least one analog input (if they're disconnected they're hidden - I 
suppose if you just wanted buttons you could wire a couple of resistors 
to one of the inputs to enable it).

AFAIK onceconfigured the BU0836A does the decoding and you just get 
up/down pulses out as normal joystick buttons, I've not tried it yet.

I hope to get started on a project this weekend using an atmega16 to 
create a comm radio control panel, it's nice to know other people are 
working on similar projects. Maybe we can have a list of flightgear 
compatible projects for people to build.
