Hi Donn,

I'm running openSUSE 11.4 x64 and have a few days old GIT version of fg as well
as fgdata - few minor bugs when I run fg (missing hud features, cannot manually
set visibility distance with Z/z) but not like you describe. I can tell you
that KDE4 kwin does not play nice with OpenGL apps, although usually it just
causes jerky or slow performance in those apps (not missing stuff).

Depending on your hardware you might want to try disabling or suspending Kwin
desktop effects before running fg. My laptop is a Dell with 1920x1200 panel and
GeForce 8600M GT - to get good fullscreen performance I *have* to disable kwin
fx. My desktop is a hex-core Phenom2 with 8GB and a 2560x1440 27" monitor
driven by a GeForce GTX560ti - I don't need to suspend kwin fx to get good
fullscreen performance on that (it is a beast afterall), and while kwin doesn't
slow it down much it does make it more jerky. Compiz might work better for you
than kwin.

Kind regards,

Chris Wilkinson YBBN/BNE.

Subject: [Flightgear-users] FGFS

I have about had it with openSuSE and or FGFS

I completely re downloaded everything (to confirm it was not a previous
error on my part) for fgfs and recompiled it installed it and all I get
is a blue FGFS screen with no image but a mountain range way far away on
any model.  No airport, no runway and no menu selection.  Everything
compiled what looked correct.

I think it may be a fgdata problem or openSuSE/KDE4 hogging the visuals.

The last time I built a cvs/git flightgear and fgdata, OSG, plib,
freeglut, freealut, and Simgear.  They worked and I made rpms.

Also
flightgear had some warning compile errors dealing with uiuc.

Is anyone else seeing this type of problem
