Though I think we are very close. The work that Manolo et al have done has resolved the building issues on 64-bit OSX, so that was the only big "platform" stopper. Maybe that's enough to make a first release and get it out there? > I am simply hoping to double the number of user (and > developers) by getting 1 and 2 back together. Though there are not enough (i.e. any) fltk2 devs to make any difference to the labour force in the short term! > Most bugs are > not horrible (except maybe the Fl_Text_Buffer for UTF-8) and Fl_Text_Buffer probably can not really be fixed - the patch proposed in the STR (for counting the glyphs correctly) seems to me to be correct, and should be applied (if it has not been already, I can't recall) but the other issues are mainly to do with the way that the text editor widgets handling glyph spacing, and proportional fonts and so forth, and that we can not fix, AFAICT. It has never handled prop fonts correctly, and we will not be fixing it now. If we need a rich text widget (and we probably do) the Fl_Text_* are not it... > fltk-1.3 is quite workable. Yes - I;m using it in "real" code now and it is fine. So far! > OTOH, my vacation is almost over, so my plan to finish the > basic conversion will not work anyways... . Though the foundations are there - but currently broken on win32 again... So... Matt finishes his vacation, so work on the fltk3 port slows. There's no work on fltk1.1 or fltk2, so we can push a fltk1.3 release out "soon", and in the meantime anyone who has an itch to scratch can poke at the fltk3 repo, fixing widgets and keeping it in sync with fltk1.3... I think that might work, without killing fltk1.3...? SELEX Galileo Ltd Registered Office: Sigma House, Christopher Martin Road, Basildon, Essex SS14 3EL A company registered in England & Wales.
