I'm experiencing the same thing - and incredible number of messages are posted.
I get this for Google Reader as well as RememberTheMilk. Minimizing the window seems to be okay, it's just hiding the window that starts the trouble. I've tried flicking switches (block popups, remember last session etc.) but they don't appear to modify the behaviour.
