I think I may have finally found the culprit and fixed the problem. Removing the Google Talk Browser Plugin (the thing that lets you do video and voice in Gmail) from /Library/Internet Plug-ins/ googletalkbrowserplugin.plugin fixed it. Better yet, run the uninstall script that comes in the disk image.
