Everything is much better when Northrop Frye has nothing to do with it. And Sophocles
is light reading for those raised on Ibsen. My favorite piece of writing at 14 or so
was "The Wild Duck". But then half my ancestors were from Lofoten so that stuff was
Duck Soup to them, hey.

There is much to be said for a library so restricted, and a reading habit so omnivorous
and unguided, that one was reading Homer at 10, right along with Nancy Drew. It's sort
of a Fluxus upbringing, in a way.
