I know exactly what you mean. We have a similar problem my partner and
I...the books no longer go on shelves just piles on the floor.
A friend of mine who deals in second-hand books hasn't cooked for years. He
shares a house with another bookdealer and they had to turn the kitchen into
storage space for books. In fact some years ago the problem got so bad that
they were using the bathroom for storage too and having to go elsewhere to
have baths. Anyway sometimes I work for this friend of mine doing bookfairs
and on top of paying me he normally lets me have a number of free books,
over the years of knowing him I think I can safely say that he is
responsible for my book overcrowding.......not that I'm complaining mind you
because he has saved me a huge amount of money as well.
