I have no plans to get into a debate about Mo***ento.
Last August after many list problems and flame wars we decided that enough
was enough and Fluxlist would have rules of participation since the
community was being eroded by flame wars as a result of a lack of a couple
of basic rules. The important rules we introduced were the following:
"Several kinds of behavior will result in expulsion from Fluxlist. Abuse,
harassment, impersonation, violation of confidentiality, reposting of
private posts without permission and spamming are unacceptable. We will not
serve as a forum for racist, sexist, malicious or mendacious behaviour. "
The Mo***ento post broke these rules hence the expulsion.
That's the official side.
>From a personal point of view I get very tired of the general level of
abusiveness in online discussions on newsgroups and certain lists etc. I no
longer take part in any discussion forum where this kind of thing exists,
it's just unproductive and a waste of time for all concerned not to mention
upsetting for the victims of this kind of thin. I can't understand why some
people enjoy trying to upset others and I don't think I ever will.
