It was not them amount but the process of equivalency that was a key here the cans were sold based on their weight (30 grams I believe) so that the price of the work was the current price of gold. If one can get past some of the more superficial aspects or potential responses this is a really great piece with all of the issues it raises about artist as maker, the nature and materials of art, the commodification of the art object and the whole range of issues related to artists' multiples.
