okay, check Rogalsky's website because this is quite interesting in terms of
"what is silence" in the sense of Cagean questioning....

Rogalsky says of the CDs:
>Documentation will include technical details of signal strength and silence
threshold throughout the day.<

This makes me assume that his method of extracting silence simply consists
of extracting those signals whose amplitude is significantly below that of
the normal amplitude of speech or music (i.e some silence threshold) during
the broadcast. This is Cagean silence but not real silence. In fact Rogalsky
could have extracted real silence (i.e. moments of zero amplitude, of course
this assumes there would be some) using this method because of the
technology he's using.......would that have been more interesting?
