>you can't hear absolute silence (external) because you hear your own sounds (internal) so you'd probably be wasting your money buying a tape of silence(!)< True...e.g in an anechoic chamber you just hear your heart and nervous system (v.weird.......we have one here at Keele for neurological Research so sometimes I get to play in one) but my point was that you can record true silence as oppose to "Cagean" silence (i.e background noise) so Rogalsky had the choice.
