obsolete = old; no longer in use or valid or fashionable

I assuming that you are judging painting on its ability to communicate on a 
mass scale ... ie it is not fashionable.    

As we all know, fashions change. 

I suppose you have forseen the future and are letting the world know that 
painting will never again be fashionable.  Or for that matter, you know every 
corner of the world and judge that it is not fashionable in any sector of the 
planet. 

You are a very far-sighted being and extremely socially well-connected.
