yeah, it's also pretty weird, actually we should say "no veo a alguien" or
"no hay alguien", but people who speak spanish don't really stop and think
what we are really saying... its like saying "ahorita" intead of "ahora"...
as if we said "little right now" instead of "right now"... and there are
many others like "afuerita" instead of "afuera" (just outside/outside)... we
are just odd people.

Why doesn't English accept double negation? It is so much fun!
See, in Spanish you cannot see nobody ("no veo a nadie"), obviously, and
you can spend half your time insisting that there is no nothing (no hay
nada).
I especially like it when nothing happens ("no pasa nada"). People tell you
that to calm you down - really helpful.
