Hi Geoff, A timely question. One thing I am thinking of doing is creating a small set of basic workspaces that folk can use to benchmark FME on their PC. If we get a good number of results it'll be easy to see just how much better the higher options are and to gauge how good your setup is.
eg - my first workspace takes 25' 02" on my 1.6Ghz/512mb PC, whereas the ones in the training room (2.8ghz, 1gb) take 13' 20". Keep an eye on fmepedia.com for when I get time to do this (maybe early next week). Mark Mark Ireland, Product Support Engineer Safe Software Inc.
