Thanks Jason.  I guess I may end up having to do that.

Angela,

I have experienced similar issues when exporting objects out of Smallworld using FME.  Recreating the object usually solved the problem for me.

Subject: [fme] Smallword objects getting badly distorted on export to shape file format

FME Yahoo group members:

I need to use FME to export our water main objects from Smallworld to a shape file.  The vast majority export just fine.  However some get badly distorted in the export process and are unusable by our customer.  All those that are getting distorted appear to have arcs in them which are contiguous and which share the same radius point.  The confusing thing is that some mains which fit this description export without any distortion.

The only thing I can think of that the distorted mains have in common is that they were created by setting trails on objects which were imported into Smallworld from Autocad (using FME).  However, there does not appear to be anything intrinsically wrong with the geometry of these mains.

I am attaching a Word document that shows an example of one of the mains which! got distorted by the export process, plus an example of a main which is very similar in its geometry, but which did not get distorted.

Hope someone can shed some light on whatÂ’s going on here!
