Check to see if your coordinates have a z value. I've had problems with things where we had data coming from autocad that had the trail set from the imported autocad geometry that ended up with a z coordiante. FME didn't handle these too well.
If I remember right, we put in a factory to force the coordinates to be 2d and things got better. The bottom line is if you're using Autocad for your Smallworld input, it's probably a good idea to force the coordinates to be 2d on the way in.
