I'm afraid this is correct. I don't know if Jason's request is registered but I know that the idea is logged in our database (for extra attention add it to the user suggestions page on fmepedia).
If it's a case of a new attribute then perhaps try the attributeExposer - it may be the attribute is still read and this will be a way to make it appear (don't guarantee it though).
