Hi Adrian,
How did you set up the workspace - with each Shape file as a separate
dataset or as a separate feature type in a single dataset. The
navigation pane will show how many datasets/feature types you have.

I think the key here is to set up the workspace using a single Shape
file, then use Add Source Dataset for each additional Shape file with
a different schema.

If you select all of the Shape files on creating the workspace then
yes, the source schema will be defined using ALL the attributes which
will be attached to ALL features.

I've tried the AttributeRenamer/Filter combo in FME2006-GB and it
didn't add one features attributes to anothers - so this must be the
reason unless there was an update between 2006 and 2006-GB (I don't
recall hearing of one).
