I think an option would be the best choice :)

That's exactly what does not work. It is the ArcGIS Extender and it tries to check out a second ArcInfo licence when running.
I give you a bit more details: I use a Workbench in Modelbuilder.
That means ArcCatalog uses my ArcInfo licence.
The Workbench used in the modelbuilder needs to read GeoDataBase and therefore to check out an ESRI licence. There it tries to get an additional ArcInfo licence which is not available and quits ...
