Hi Shaun,
Can you clarify please? I've tried to recreate the problem but I
can't. I think I must've tried a different set of steps than you.

What I did was...

a) In Access, created a table with field lengths of 10 and 50
b) Added a destination dataset and imported the table definition from
Access

In that case the user attributes in FME had the correct sizes of 10 and 50

I also tried converting some data into Access where the tables did not
already exist.

a) Set up a workspace to write to new tables in access
b) Ran the translation

The user attributes in the destination schema were correct, the table
design in Access was correct and the data wasn't missing or truncated.

The only time I see attributes set to 20 char by default is when you
copy the schema from a transformer (right-click, copy attributes from
transformer). That's because transformers don't carry info about the
schema - just what attributes are present - so FME sets it to a
default of 20 char.

Regards,

Mark
