Yeah, Bruno- you've got nothing to worry about with your English.  I didn't even once assume English wasn't your first language.
 
Stuff like IIRC and AFAIK ("as far as I know") are just shorthand ways of writing common phrases that some of us seem to have picked up from being on usenet too much.

The statement would thus read,  "If I recall correctly, images are placed by the upper left corner..."
