You can't send control sequences to the printer, particularly
made difficult because &x1B (ESC) is not a valid XML character.
The question is: why do you think you have to send control
codes to the printer? After all, FOP is supposed to format
the content for you and send it in a way to the printer
which should cause it to print your stuff correctly.
If you are missing features in the PCL renderer, point them
out more explicitely.
