Hello
everyone,
We are looking for
beta sites for our new product, Word FO Designer.
This is a plug-in
for Microsoft Word that lets you use Word to layout what you want your
PDF's to look like, then automatically generates an XSLT based on the
formatting of your document. Since we use fop for our conversion to PDF, I thought it would
be appropriate to ask for on this list for potential beta sites. The first
beta cycle will start towards the end of next
week.
The automatically
generated XSLT can take your custom XML, and produce FO that looks just like
your original Word document, with values filled in from your XML data.
The XSLT
can generate both PDF's and RTF's via XSL:FO.
The idea is to
reduce the amount of work in writing XSLTs and XSL:FO by using a tool that
everyone is already familiar with - Word - all formatting
characteristics, fonts, paragraph properties, table structures, etc. are built
using ordinary Word commands rather than writing XSL:FO by
hand.
This is most useful
to those who have more than one document look&feel/template
that they need to produce. I can attest that I've saved many
hours of writing XSL:FO by using Word as the designer. It supports
Word 2000 and up.
If you're
interested, please email [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject
of "beta sites for Word FO Designer" (or simply reply to this
email).
Thanks,
Riz
