Hello Kai,
have you tried to set the correct font-paths/font-definitions, this could
be may be the reason.
If fop (0.20.5) does not has the correct font-definition he uses
default-fonts and also does not have the correct metric.

We had some video issues with several older machines running 1.5 that
the "*noddraw*" fixed.
