Hi Johannes,

Have you tried comparing using diff or similar some simple "hello world" fo output of 0.20 with 0.93 to try and find out the differences between the postscript outputs? If the outputs are not radically different it might be possible to spot something really simple that could be changed to make it work with your fax and other old postscript interpreters.

Adrian.

Yes - kind of. I'm using fax software that takes postscript files as input.
If I generate these files using fop 0.20.5 they work fine. If I generate the files using fop 0.94, no way! I really don't know, what exactly makes the difference. But with Level 1 Postscript I would be sure, that it works.
Anyway, I have to stick to fop 0.20.5 then.

Thanks for the info!

PostScript Level 1 is not supported. It would require considerable
effort to map all the various features into Level 1. Are you still
working with 20 year old printers or why do you need Level 1?

Hi,

perhaps somebody can help me answering the following question:

Is there a way to force fop 0.94 to generate Level 1 PostScript?

I tried to set language-level in the configuration file. But this
seems to have no effect at all.

Johannes
