Going from XSLT 1.0 to XSLT 2.0 is not so hard, unless you use a lot of extension functions (other than EXSLT). There're some caveats, the FAQ has some items on it. XSLT 2.0 features a backward-compatibility mode which you may want to use before going 100% to XSLT 2.0 (if your 1.0 stylesheets are well-designed though there's a good chance they work first-off with xslt 2.0).
