OK. 
When you don't specify work directory in the FTP connection, PSPad knows it and
knows, that it isn't root.
When you don't specify it, PSPad doesn't know it and has no chance to get it,
because it doesn't know FTP server structure.

In both case if you use ROOT directory button, PSPad changes directory to '/' =
your root in FTP server.

I can modify PSPad behavior, but I need to know how.
