As ATA/ATAPI assumes a higher profile in the mass storage marketplace there are several things T13 will have to address (if they can find time in between all the discussion of new SMART and AV features and other stupid things). Things like this (unexpected host activity) but also things like just what do errors really mean and how should a host react to an specific error type and what should a device expect a host to do following an error? ATAPI really needs a lot of work in the area of error reporting because ATAPI has two classes of errors: ATA interface errors and the SCSI command errors. *** Hale Landis *** [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** *** Niwot, CO USA *** www.ata-atapi.com *** Subscribe/Unsubscribe instructions can be found at www.t13.org.
