I see the Google query: http://www.google.com/search?q=Pat+LaVarre+Hale+Landis+Atapi+byte+count competently disinters much of our past discussion over how well ata/pi pio/dma does or does not count bytes. But regrettably that query does Not directly point to Hale's N-point argument for concluding ata/pi pio/dma counts adequately. Anybody here have a copy of that argument? Anyone able to construct a better query? Was N = 8? Pat LaVarre http://plavarre.blog-city.com/index.cfm?m=1&y=2004 P.S. I bother to mention this because lately I've found a better way of getting everyone interested to remember to settle such arguments offline before posting the conclusion alone to more expensive places like this, namely: Weblogs: Simplifying Web Publishing http://www.computer.org/computer/homepage/1103/webtech/
