What I have done is configured a Shortcut key (Ctrl-F8 in my particular
case) to toggle the visibility of the RatsNest layer. The shortcut should
invoke the "PCB:DocumentPreferences" process, and it should be invoked with
a parameter of "ConnectLayer = Toggle". This shortcut can then be used to
switch off the ratsnest display before clicking on a pad, and again,
afterwards, to switch this back on again.
