things like received signal strength readings, dialling numbers, answering

Hello All I cant be still again
I have followed the threads about OS's and memory and crashes. I recently
went the other way, dumped NT and 6 service packs ( 6 CDs) and loaded 98 SE
(one CD). I just had this conversation with Mark Witherrite this morning.
I run on three different computers, at different sites, one AMD one Intel,
and one Compaq which I don't consider a real computer because its
proprietary hardware. We also have three other designers run on WIN 98.
All of our machines have 512 meg of ram ( someone posted how important RAM
is to Microsoft stability) Some of our file sizes are up to 120 meg and
can take 10 - 15 minutes to load. We have been running 99 SP4 thru SP6
and I was running almost every beta of SPx on all these machines on both NT
and on win98se. Allot of configurations....
now the crash results
Whose machine crashed the most? The fellow who has antivirus software,
Norton, Mejenik, and Toys ARE US running in the back ground. I was
experiencing crashes with NORTON disk doctor, and McAfee. I unloaded this
software and cleaned my registries, and have not had a single
crash....ever. I know a few design rules that will make the system crash,
however I m not going to reveal all my secrets. I strongly recommend,
before posting any crashes on here to remove any software running in the
back ground, clean your registries , and keep them clean on a regular
basis. Purchase software like Mejinex Fix IT Utilities but do not run it
the back ground. Run the diagnostics especially if you have a network
card.
I have no idea what Active X is, but guaranteed when Active X needs
repaired, Protel will crash to lock up almost 100 per cent of the time. So
I run the diagnostics utilities, clean Active X and com. I keep it clean
and error free and run completely crash free on 5 different machines.
Any help on what Active X is? I know it makes Protel crash if it needs
repaired.
