Thanks for the reply, Abd-ul. I need an occasional sanity check in
unfamiliar territory. But here's a new feature request/idea:

I have a tool, that reads my communications channels and presents the
traffic in the form of a small graph. I can monitor my internet traffic
with it among other things. It is called DU Meter from Hagel Technologies.
Recently I received an upgrade that contained a new feature that works so
well I would like to see the idea used in Protel. It now has an option, for
Win2000 only, that lets the user set a transparency mode and select the
level of transparency. And it works extremely well with excellent glass
like transparent effect.

How does this relate to Protel? Well, this morning I am working with three
simultaneous views in PCB. The first view is the PCB itself. The second is
the BGA escapement part that has traces brought to a rectangular border
slightly larger than the original part but in the correct layout order. The
third is a part containing the copper for connection to resistor packs, with
the resistor packs placed on a mech layer for reference while laying tracks.
To work with these I synchronize them by selecting the view by "Area"
identically in the PCB and library view. But adding traces to the library
parts requires flipping back and forth between PCB view and Library view
while trying to remember the position of things.

It would be terrific to have a mode where a view could be selected as a
transparency, even as a static transparency that cannot be edited, while
working on the two library parts. Any thoughts on this or alternatives?

Tim Hutcheson
