Hi,
I had been suffering a lot trying to use my cdma mobile phone for using
internet in linux. It was working well in windows, finally linux command
wvdialconf helped me.
So, goto the console, and run

wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf.new

This command scans ur serial ports and lets u know if u have any modems. If
linux supports your mobile's modem, it gives the port in which it is
connected.

Let me know if i can do some more help
