If you have ubuntu or any other linux/OSS live cd, boot from cd and  
try to check if the cdrom drive is okay. If you donot have such live  
cd or donot know what I am talking about then go to http://www.ubuntu.com 
  or http://fedoraproject.org or search live cd on google. If you want  
such live cd then please tell us about your location so we can help  
you by providing such cd or link you to some place where you can get  
such cd. for the time being visit this link and learn more
