Shishir dai, i am still not being able to connect to net.
I edited my wvdial.conf file using the command "sudo nano /etc/
wvdial.conf".
I gave all the parameters u specified with my username and password
(the same which i use in windows).

then i tried with the command "wvdialconf" and "wvdial"....but no
success..
my output for these commands as follows:

$ wvdialconf:

Editing `/etc/wvdial.conf'.

Scanning your serial ports for a modem.

WvModem<*1>: Cannot set information for serial port.
ttyS0<*1>: ATQ0 V1 E1 -- failed with 2400 baud, next try: 9600 baud
ttyS0<*1>: ATQ0 V1 E1 -- failed with 9600 baud, next try: 115200 baud
ttyS0<*1>: ATQ0 V1 E1 -- and failed too at 115200, giving up.
Modem Port Scan<*1>: S1   S2   S3

Sorry, no modem was detected! Is it in use by another program?

Did you configure it properly with setserial?

$ wvdial:

--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60
--> Cannot set information for serial port.
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
--> Sending: ATQ0
--> Re-Sending: ATZ
--> Modem not responding.

Please help me out troubleshooting this problem! ..
am i having some other problems ???
are there any other alternatives???

Regards,
Shristi
