Subir dai,

I have been talking to people (and working on OSM myself), and I was
thinking it might be productive to organize a get together on July 16 with
about 20 people from FOSS-Nepal somewhere with good bandwidth to do a little
bit of an OSM session. I can go through OSM, some of the needs of OSM in
Npal, some non-OSM GIS work that could be integrated, and finally ending
with a quick OSM editing session where we get everyone set up and briefly
editing OSM on their own laptops.
We couldn't really handle more than 20 people, but if we have a group of
people who have been involved in FOSS for a while, it would be a pretty
interesting thing to do.

What do you (and rest of FOSS) think about this? I would definitely need
some help organizing the event (4 hours max, hopefully more like 3) from
some of you who have lots of experience organizing events here.

Besides that intro, we will be soon proceeding putting data loaned to us by
a couple of institutions up on OSM. But I think having FOSS knowledgeable
about OSM will ensure some level of sustainability that really needs to
continue beyond what we end up doing in terms of data imports.

Looking for feedback (and event -management support),
Prabhas
