Rajesh-ji,

Perhaps it is too early to be posting a reply which contradicts my
commitments for sticking with Nepali-English pair, but after I have
researched into it, it seems that the development a full fledged machine
translation system for not-so-closely related languages such as Nepali and
English using Apertium is not feasible to be completed in three months
time. Furthermore, it seems that the Bangladeshis when started for their
own Bn-en language pair, already had an open source machine translation
system called Anubadok, which was customized to work with Apertium.
However, as there is no Nepali-English machine translation system available
freely under a GNU/GPL compatible license, work needs to be done from
scratch, which will be time consuming.
Thus, as you had suggested, I shall shift my focus to be working on
Nepali-Hindi pair. I hope when completed this shall serve as a platform for
further advancements in machine translation in Nepali and should help in
Nepali online communites such as the Nepali Wikipedia.

Regards,
Aishraj Dahal
