In spite of your remarks, I don't think there is a clear consensus that some
particular markup should be implemented. Your remarks don't actually contribute 
to
obtaining such a consensus.

A change will only happen when someone thinks it is important enough to spend 
their
time implementing it. As far as the wiki markup is concerned, we are still 
waiting.
