Excuse me. I do not see you specifying the tag to cancel here,
i.e. 'private'. The command syntax is
fossil tag cancel ?--raw? TAGNAME CHECK-IN

Errors due to copy & paste problems with remote desktop. Fossil was
happy with the command; 'fossil timeline' showed a new artifact
canceling the tag; and 'fossil ui' showed the tag as canceled (i.e.
rendering with overstrike). 'fossil tag find --raw private' doesn't find
the artifact with the canceled tag, but 'fossil tag list --raw $checkin'
shows 'private' as still there. Rebuilding the repo does not change the
behaviour.
