Hey guys, So our multi.fossology setup has been going strong for about almost 2 weeks now. Going through tons and tons of packages and providing us with the information that our Licensing Disclosure and Intellectual Property team is looking for.
Since everything is now working, now they want to make sure it's all being backed up and we're able to restore all this in the event our machines were to die somehow. I'm guessing I can look up information about setting up Postgresql dumps/backups and restoring if needed with psql books or on-line. But wanted to ask you guys in the event our main Scheduler/Web/DB server were to go down has anyone got information about backups/restoring fossology? (server and/or agent(s)) What is critical to backup? Just the fossology DB? What about the Repo's themselves? -Should the distrubted repos get backed up to a network share or something? Obviously backing up all config files for /etc/fossology, /etc/fstab, /etc/exports, /etc/hosts, etc. will make restoring much easier but else? What about Restoring any of this? Any write-ups? or other information of how to accomplish a restore in the event of something bad? I did look at ALL your docs on fossolgy.com and nothing under maintenance/admin or anything else. I know these docs are a nice to have and you guys have your hands full with full-time jobs and higher-level fixes/improvements for fossolgy. But I'm tasked with backing up all this and knowing how to restore, besides nobody cares if you can backup-only if you can restore!!! =) -Regards, Gibran Marquez
