I'll second this caution. we just tried to take one of our backbone MLX-8s from 4.0.1a to 4.1.00 last week. we spent the week fighting weird routing issues where things would drop off our campus net, and backing it out was a fiasco (complicated due to furlough policies where the two people working with it the most last week couldn't be contacted during off hours after midnight Sunday morning when the back out happened).
we've been pretty happy on 4.0.1a except for multicast problems (PIM and mBGP) for quite some time, both on our campus backbone and the regional network we run between our campus. I believe there might be a new code release expected later this month but I don't have details. ----- -debbie Debbie Fligor, n9dn Network Engineer, CITES, Univ. of Il email: [email protected] <http://www.uiuc.edu/ph/www/fligor> "My turn." -River Tam On Feb 15, 2010, at 7:34, Ronald Esveld wrote: > Be aware with 4.1.00 flat, Brocade does trics in memory for the accommodation > of 2000 VRRP(E) instances. > Not all system-max variables can be ran at the same time in 4.1.00. > > Version 4.1.00 works fine as far as BGP concerned J > > Ronald > > Van: [email protected] > [mailto:[email protected]] Namens Frankie John-Lewis > Verzonden: maandag 15 februari 2010 14:32 > Aan: [email protected]; [email protected] > Onderwerp: Re: [f-nsp] OS > > We are currently running 3.9e on the XMRs and are experiencing no issues with > BGP > > We ere thinking of upgrading to 4.1 in the near future > > I would recommend that you at least upgrade to 3.9 as a lot of the issues you > may be experiencing are fixed in 3.9 and upwards > > From: [email protected] > <[email protected]> > To: foundry-nsp <[email protected]> > Sent: Mon Feb 15 13:10:34 2010 > Subject: [f-nsp] OS > > Can anyone tell me the current software version for the MLX-8? > > We are currently running 3.5 and we are having some issues with > BGP peers bouncing, we have changed the BGP timers for fast failovers. > > > Any help would be appreciated? > > > What versions are you running? any problems with BGP or MRP? _______________________________________________ foundry-nsp mailing list [email protected] http://puck.nether.net/mailman/listinfo/foundry-nsp
