Thanks for the fast reaction!! I was tring nearly everything in the last two day (much too many hours). Self compiled Images (without and with modifications), your Images (LX and the old board). Flashing on Mandrake 2007 (VMWare and then a normal native HD installation).
Could there be some problems with my network adapter or LAN cable? In my Linux vmWare and the native Linux installation, booth flashing reactions are the same. I have two network adapters 1. NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller 2. INTEL PRO/100+ The link status of the network adapter to the foxboard is only available, when the LAN boot Jumper is set. Perhaps there are transmit error to the board (Cable), but TCP should normally correct them..? Q and A 0 ..metallic impurity above the printed circuit board but between the first pins of the Flash memory chip > Seems fine. Picture: http://62.75.144.86/DSC06158.jpg 1 If we don't manage to get it working we will replace the board. > I bought it at a reseller in germany. I phoned with him already and he told me to take the board back in the case of a broken board. 2 Meanwhile please report the complete description printed on the Flash and SDRAM memory chip of your board > SDram : ISSI -- IS42S16800A-7TL -- FA592025D 0553 Flash: MXS -- M052969 -- 29LV 320ATTC-90G -- 2M294202 3 Look here to see how the FLASH and SDRAM memory chips looks like > Well, I'm an Engineer (Dipl.-Ing) and know how the chips looks like ;-) 4 On the flashing side, I see on the second listing, that you have altered the partition sizes so that the sum of the partition sizes is over the 0x400000 value. So the message of Flash too small ... > I never chaged the partition sizes. 5 You should try to flash your board with the fimage produced by your environment by default just after installation before trying to experiment with partition sizes. > already tried with a few new SDK installations. Every time the same problem. 6 I suggest you to reinstall the SDK, since it is very difficult to help fixing wrong settings on the SDK once have benn changed lots of options. > Only the green led is on and the other led don'f flash at bootup. So I think only the CPU internal Bootloader is runned. Finally, I have further questions: Q1 How can I flash the ETRAX via serial? I found a Windows tool at http://www.indunet.it/en/etraxflasher.php#download , but didn't try it. Q2 Meanwhile I found a few links on the Newsgroup and, for example, your link to the ram/flash pictures. These html pages aren't listed on the homepage, acessed directly from the acme URL. Is there an index for ALL articles by ACME or an ftp server with additional stuff and information? Q3 Where can I find a complete pcb layout from the fox. Are there documents from the memory map? I think the flash is located at 0x80000000 ? [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
