        HH#: HH895

                                            IA INFO: maf9902
                                            File: FoxAPI
                                            Release: 4.3/6.1
                                            Date: Apr. 9, 1999

        Subject: Solaris FoxAPI V4.2 Issues
        Source: TAC

Problem: FoxAPI V4.2 will not start or needs to be restarted to
work properly.

Workaround: FoxAPI V4.2 startup is incorporated into
/usr/fox/bin/fox_apps.dat
        therefore any
startups in /etc/fox/rc.foxapps or /etc/fox/user_apps.dat must be
removed.

Ensure that the FOXAPI entry in /usr/fox/bin/fox_apps.dat is
executed AFTER
ACSA. FoxAPI startup is dependent on the running of CSA. So it
must be listed
AFTER CSA and BEFORE any FoxAPI Dependant applications. (CAR
Submitted)

If FoxAPI was added to SysDEF configuration it will add ADDE6 to
/usr/fox/bin/fox_apps.dat which will also start up FoxAPI again.
Remove ADDE6
entry if FOXAPI already exists. (CAR Submitted)

If you are not using FoxExplorer, remove /opt/fox/ais/bin/blk_dscr
line from
aisstart and kill the blk_dscr process if running. (CAR Submitted)

If using opensets you will get the message "open_action not found",
you can
touch open_action and chmod 777 open_action to avoid the message.

Creating the file use.dat and adding stations, which communicate to
FoxAPI, will
avoid the warning messages "Station Not Found" at startup and will
speed up the

        start-up of FoxAPI.

NOTE: Contents of /opt/fox/ais/bin will be copied to
/opt/fox/ais/bin_ais when
        installing QF990084.
