Cynthia, you are so right. Most people don't want to go out of a ten mile radius to attend a function....they want you to come to them and then maybe they will come. The amount of people involved in putting on a convention is staggering.....Well, I'm just impressed with the amount of planning that it takes, and that the events are so wonderful. So to you and all the staff that assists you go my congratulations.
I live in Maryland and I have friends here that have never gone to a convention, It's always been to far, to expensive, to whatever. When I say convention, I'm including workshops too. There are people who will find an excuse for anything instead of planning to make it happen, that's just the nature of people. The Airlines still fly coast to coast, car rental is available, shuttles run, and most of all there are all kinds of things happening on both coasts. So pick an event.....it can be a jam, a workshop, a small convention and enjoy the adventure. and for all the west coast people, there is the Masters Workshop happening out there....go to it and have a great time and learn a lot. Oh, and me, I think I want to go to LaFete this year in March, or maybe Orlando in January, or did I want to wait and go to Orlando in May, Or California to get another Class with Jodi Carr, Or Canada with a private class with Oliver, or Hey there's New Mexico With Mark Reid, and for heaven sake there are Jams every month with Carol Turman who just turned it up a notch, a local workshop in October...Oh, got a job that weekend, or Classes with local artists....Kerry Anne Smith is going to be in Va soon. Ahh, the choices I have....now to make up my mind.
